Today we published our book, Create Your Escape. Since we’ve already taken our own arund-the-world trip, this book is designed to inspire and help others take the plunge, too. This has been a long-awaited moment, and we’re really looking forward to hearing the first round of feedback from those who have pre-ordered the book. By leaving a review on Amazon, you’ll have an enormous impact on whether casual and serious browsers alike purchase our book.
We know the book’s 200+ pages have the potential to inspire others to action and change the course of their lives. Yes, change the course of their lives. Unless you wake up energized to go to work every day, you’re likely just as sick of the rat race as your coworker in the cubicle next to you. When are you going to admit to yourself that there are more thrilling adventures to be had than getting up, going to work, commuting home, eating, and going to bed?
If you have even for one second thought that it might be fun to travel the world, please stop thinking and start taking action. There are small regrets in life – like overspending at IKEA or staying out too late on a weeknight – that you’ll forget about in a month or two. But not exploring the possibility of a life-changing experience like a “mini-retirement” will be no small regret. We don’t post many inspirational quotes, but this one sums it up pretty well:
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
As does this one from Elizabeth Gilbert:
But why must everything always have a practical application? I’d been such a diligent soldier for years – working, producing, never missing a deadline, taking care of my loved ones, my gums and credit record, voting, etc. Is this lifetime supposed to be only about duty?
Such an experience is energizing, empowering, educational, and undoubtedly be one of the most unforgettable things you will ever do. Not only that, but you’re investing your money where it matters most – on yourself and your happiness. Don’t forget that Forbes, The Atlantic, Fast Company, and even WebMD have extolled the virtues of spending your money on experiences, like a trip, and not things, like a necklace.
If you’re even remotely interested in experiencing an epic global adventure, do some research and see for yourself what it takes to turn this idea into a reality. We would love for you to achieve your dreams, too. And when you do, please drop us a line. Your experiences are inspiring to others. Sharing your journey with fellow travelaholics only validates the importance of leaving behind the predictable path for an unforgettable adventure.
About Create Your Escape
Create Your Escape is a comprehensive, easy-to-digest guide to planning the trip of a lifetime. We will teach you how to transform your lifestyle so you can afford to globetrot unemployed and carefree (with or without a travel partner). The chapters are in chronological order and will take you through trip-specific planning, from drafting your dream route and creating a budget, to learning skills that will help you abroad, to understanding visas, power of attorney, why to freeze your credit, and the ins and outs of RTW (‘round-the-world) plane tickets. Throughout the book, we also recall our own experiences and provide honest firsthand accounts of hurdles we encountered during our trip planning and how to work through them. These conversations are not always easy, so we provide plenty of tips for making them go as smoothly as possible.
Even if you don’t want to travel long-term, the contents of the book may still be valuable to you.
